Hey, my name is Elijah Zaccheus. I work at 4Pillars as a Consultant, and according to my mum, I’m the hardest worker in the room.

My work with 4Pillars revolves around environmental compliance of mining and manufacturing projects all around Australia. What I love about my work is knowing that I play a role in securing our environment and keeping the country clean! The atmosphere at work is great too and I know I have gained lifelong friends. Another thing that has been great is getting positive feedback from clients – it puts a big smile on my face!

I grew up in Singapore and moved to Australia at the age of 11. I am currently undertaking my Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering at UNSW and I graduate at the end of this year. The reason I chose Petroleum Engineering was because I saw countless incidents of pollution growing up, and I saw a problem that needed to be fixed! My ultimate dream would be to combine my degree with my love for space and forge a path in Asteroid Mining. Trying my best to secure some contracts for 4Pillars with NASA!

Working at 4Pillars has given me a great insight into environmental regulation/law. This was an area that was lacking for me personally, as it is not covered in much depth when studying an Engineering degree. My role has given me a new perspective, and collectively a fuller picture of what it means for industry.

My unquenchable thirst for knowledge is what drives me more than anything. I believe in having an open mind when it comes to learning; what was once fiction is now becoming fact! My favourite podcast has to be The Tim Ferriss Show; I listen to it on the way to work every day. My favourite book is The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham, and my favourite movie is Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

My passions outside of the workplace include exploring the countryside and long exposure photography. Growing up in a tiny concrete jungle like Singapore, you learn to fall in love with the great outdoors very quickly!

Thank you so much for your time, and feel free to follow me on LinkedIn!
